Apartment hunt

Since I decided against a mobile home at my age I am continuing the search for an apartment.  This is no easy task.  It is  very difficult to move around so much but since the options at this apartment mean moving no matter what I am looking to find a new apartment complex that is reasonable and nearby.  Consequently, I am also trying to win the lottery to be able to afford the kind of place I would like to have for a long period of time. Once you get settled in, you hate to have to move around.

Life Sucks

This is one of those days!  My head seems to be clogged. It may be the weather.  It may be my allergies.  But whatever it is, I wish it would go away.  I think I need to get out so as soon as I write this I will go to see the next location of the mobile home community for 55+ seniors which is way across town from where I live now. I had thought about an apartment downtown which I may attempt before the mobile home community just to see what is available there.

We had rain yesterday and it has cleared but local weather woman has said it could rain again this afternoon.

I hope to go to the races this Saturday for both Santa Anita and Sunland despite the fact that I do not know which horses are entered.  Most likely I will go to an off track betting site rather than the track. I need to get a big win in here asap.

I just had to explore my ideas on paper now.  I won't print this but the general idea is the same.

I hate to have to plan for my next decade but that is what I am doing now. I need to have a home that will not go up in costs year after year.  That is one thing I hate about apartment living.  Rent rates irritate me no end, but lot rents are expensive at some trailer parks too.  But I am still considering a mobile home having found a few this morning on the internet at a site off Cave Creek Road.  Will check it out soon.

More about AIA tours

Architectural tours has an itinerary that really fascinates me.  It is called Odyssey to the Wonders of the Ancient World.  It is an enormous price to pay to see all this for a single supplement but if I could share a room it is reasonable.  I am posting this now so as not to get the dates and costs confused.  It will be from Oct. 13 to 21, 2015.  Its costs are anywhere between $11,000 and $12,000  for a single but half that for a double.

Typewriters vs. computers

Sometimes I wish I had an old fashioned typewriter once more. I actually had had a computerized Brother typewriter that was a real typewriter. I loved that typewriter since it could do things that even a computer cannot do.  I do not know for sure if they make them like that anymore but it was minimally computerized and worked really well.

Computers cannot do that kind of automatic paperwork that that typewriter could do.  It did require that you insert a sheet of paper but it was automated for tabs and repetition in a way that I really liked.  Cannot do that even on a word processor which requires printing.

Just a thought that I wanted to express at the moment.  Not for sharing.

Back to Novel

I have not written anything in a long time on the novel that I am contemplating. I rearrange my thoughts on this project all the time.  I have an opportunity to travel to the region of the world that Alexander inhabited and I am considering taking the chance very seriously. I will do it most likely no matter what, as I want to see it for myself, and it will probably add to some enrichment aspect of the book.  My memory serves me best though as I had already tripped back into his time period which is thousands of years ago.  Before Christ, for crying out loud!

I have decided on an entirely different format for this project.  It will be salable soon I am hoping.

Generating interest in a tired subject about which most people have no idea or clue as to the truth is a serious problem.  Historians will always stick with the few bios already written and will always be critical of any piece of fiction created through active imagination.  My book is intended to enlighten, inform and entertain....but mostly to get my point of view through regarding the events and personalities involved.  Especially that of lead character about whom I have become so involved.

But I learned the most intriguing revelation about a character that I have had a special interest in, thinking that it was one friend of my past when it turned into a totally different friend of the past that actually made sense and changed my entire outlook about the entire thing.  I choose not to ever let this person know that I believe this about her and her mother since I appreciate the folly of that.

\I have decided that learning of past lives can be left only to those who wish to know of it. It should never be placed into anyone's conscious mind until able to accept the fact that it could be true.  So that is one reason I have seen the truth about my own experiences in relation to others.

And on that note, I was very happy that Prince Charles chose to visit Mt. Vernon when in his most recent trip to the USA.  I am very involved in the study of GW as well as Alexander and it means a lot to me that the Prince did show his respects to our first president,  especially since the Washington family is so very imbedded in England.

Enough for now...I have work to do yet this day!

More on search for new home

I have looked into mobile homes in North Phoenix again and have found another senior community with trailers for sale. I will go out there sometime this week but not yet this afternoon.  I woke up from a dream about my Uncle Jim this morning where I saw him so vividly I could hardly believe it.  But he looked like he had when he was in the Navy, a very young man.  My dream shifted to include a scene with Elvis Presley when in the army probably. I could hardly believe my eyes seeing Elvis in this scene.  Not willing to say much about it now but what a morning that left me a bit dragged out and clearly under the weather.

I am finishing my coconut cleanse since it seems that I had an extra four ounces in this bottle that I bought. I saved the remaining cup for today to continue the procedure.  I will have the second and final 4 oz. this afternoon.  It takes a while for me to drink this stuff up despite its flavor which is naturally coconut!  Very sweet so I use a cup of water with it as well as adding blueberries and strawberries to the already much fruited potion.

It did dull my appetite a lot. I ate very little.

Home Shopping Network and UPS

I was very happy that my order for a Curtis Stone pineapple cutter was sent and delivered to me so fast this morning, but I am having a bit of a problem with the young girl who is now delivering the mail.  I think she does not really like to have to hand it to me personally, but I prefer to get it upfront when she is finished with the mail delivery.

I was a bit annoyed with UPS this morning to learn that they had a new format for tracking the deliveries.  I ordered a pair of Clarks shoes from QVC which is yet to be delivered but for some odd reason, UPS does not seem to have much information about the locations of this pair of shoes.  I hope that these shoes are worth this much trouble to purchase.

I like to know when to anticipate delivery because I do not like to run to the office to get the products if I can have them more at my convenience at my front door.  The UPS man does deliver them personally but the post office often goes to the front office.  That can mean having to wait if the office is closed.   Besides, I do not like having the personnel in the office know my business.

But Home Shopping Network  was so good as to get this merchandise to me so quickly that I am singing their praises.  That quick delivery makes it more likely that I would order through them than through the other networks.   But knowing Clarks shoes as I do, I thought it a good buy for this summer's sandals pick.  When they finally arrive, I will throw my outworn fit flops into the trash.

I love the fit flops which I actually bought at MySister'sCloset which is a discount store, or consignment shop.  These sandals have worn the best for the past summer and into winter as well.  I really like the workout they give when wearing.

However, at Nordstrom's they sell for $100 and more....beyond my pocket book price for shoes I can assure you.
Clarks are also expensive even at the local discount shoe stores so that the special buy at QVC seemed worth it.  I will know soon enough but they had to be shipped in from the East Coast of all places, Virginia Beach.

And UPS has been a bugger about tracking this package.  I wonder what their problem is, but recently Leah Marie Brown complained about missing packages.  So today when I logged into UPS it asked have you been missing packages?  The answer is no, and do not confuse me with Leah Marie Brown. I hate that!  To be confused with any other person in the world does just annoy me more than you can imagine!  So just because she makes a complaint about missing packages should not mean that UPS assumes that I am missing packages.  I have made no such complaint!

Sorry, but while I only know Leah through Facebook, I do not appreciate thinking that UPS is stupid enough to think that her problem is my problem.

And I doubt that even if I share this on Facebook that Leah will read it.  I do not think that she is reading any of my posts.

New home plans

For a brief moment I had thought i would move into a mobile home in a very nice community.  Second time I went out there, I realized how far out it is, and how much moving costs would be.  I checked out several homes that day when I returned to confirm the fact that I might become a home owner.  But alas and alack, it did not work for me.

Entering the gate the second time round, the attendant was not quite so friendly.  Total lack of warmth and friendliness..."I have an appointment, " I said.  "Oh, you didn't buy one?", he replied.  "No.  I am here to see another at 11:00."   "Name?  Oh yes," and he slams his hand on the door, " You know the way. Go ahead."

I was early so I met a new lady, and two other sales women.  A group of women were coming in for a community gathering, supposedly Bible Study.  Gaby was busy elsewhere so the park manager told me I could wait in the vestibule. I told her  that I would prefer to go outdoors. I went out to look at the grounds and the mailboxes which I had spied on the earlier visit.  I walked around the edge of the clubhouse and the golf course.  By the time I returned to the building I spotted Gaby, my sales agent, who was outdoors looking for me apparently, and who recognized me.  I waved, and she took me to the little golf cart to see the two mobile units I had previously visited.

Second time around, I was less hesitant than the first, and examined everything carefully.  I explained my likes and dislikes about each home, and then finally after she had driven me back to the clubhouse asked about a home that she had wanted to show me but because the owner was there at the time could not do it.  So she said it was expensive but would I like to see it.  Naturally, after she then proceeded to tell me how exceptionally nice and light it is, I said, Yes, of course.

That home was phenomenal and woke me up very fast.  The entire home with all furnishings and appliances is part of a single package.  Gaby clearly loves this home, and I liked it much better than the other two but could not yet believe that they would actually leave all that behind.  Again, the furniture and appliances made it a full $20,000 more than the other home.  Too high for me, but very nicely appointed in every respect.  A true model home.

After that I asked her about a home that is advertised in her office for $100,000, a model home. I have often heard about such homes but have never seen one.  I was shocked at the size and amount of extra attention that is given to a home of this kind.  Wow!   It had a beautiful kitchen and the refrigerator was stainless steel, huge, and amazing.  I liked the carpet the best of any I had seen so far, but for $100,000 one also gets a huge walkin closet that most apartments have automatically.

Well, I went home dizzy from the entire experience.  I do not know now what I will do.  I am still thinking about it all.

But I am going to check an apartment tomorrow to see if anything will be available this coming month.  If it works, I am almost determined to give it a chance.   More on that after I figure it out.

Gaby did give me a call to tell me about another that she had listed. I have not yet made any appointment to see it because I am deciding against home ownership after all.   I am not getting any younger, and I have to think about my health in ten years time.  Day by day, we live and we learn.

"My Prayer" The Platters

Georges Boulanger's "Avant de mourir " as a French love song.... (1939)

Georges Boulanger Avant de Mourir original

Possible new home

I have been trying to solve the problem of housing  for myself in the next few years.  So I visited a nice mobile home community this past week to investigate a few homes that are up for sale there.  This is a very nice exclusive community with social activities, and rules and regulations that protect the owners and their property from depreciation and loss.  I  actually like the location and the grounds so that I am thinking of buying one of two mobile homes that I was shown.

Tomorrow I may go look at another park further west in Phoenix just to see what else is on the market as I had found a nice one that appealed to me, but  it is considerably further west of where I live.  Moving costs matter when it is a matter of mileage on a truck.  I have only a few things to move but I will have to have something more than just my car to do the really big things.

One home is a beautiful double wide with all new kitchen appliances, and a beautiful landscape, porch, carport, and storage shed.   Since she just left the home to go into a nursing home it was still full of her stuff but they are selling it furnished.  It is a very impressive home and is being offered at $49,500 but the agent says we must negotiate and to offer a lower price to see if I can get it a bit lower. I have been thinking about it.  It is the one that I am really thinking of buying since it has so much furniture and also is the nicer of the two.

The single wide is a good one on the interior but I did not like the stove or the washer dryer in it.  I would either have to have them replaced which is an added expense that I do not want, or I would not be able to use them at all is what I am fearing.

Otherwise, it is what I call sufficient but not as desirable as the double wide. It is a lot less expensive though, has a great huge tree standing beside it along with cypress trees lining the carport next to it.  It has a lot of shade that way and also has a back patio and a brand new air conditioner.

Both have new air conditioners, and the double is being painted and has brand new roofing shingles.  It also has a lemon tree in the backyard.

The asking price for it is $49,500 and the single is $22,000 but she believes I can get it for $16,000 or $17,000.  Who knows until you make the offer.  I have decided what to offer for the double if I go that direction.

So I am writing this out for my own need to figure it out. I did check on the cost of ranges, refrigerators, and dishwashers today at Spencers.  Pretty costly.  I am wondering how to manage this now.  I am more or less decided on the double wide.  I like the idea of going into it and living in it day after day better than the single wide.  But the single wide had many features that I did like but it will need an interior paint job which is too costly for me too.  The other is being set up to sell, and I am frankly thinking I should buy it.  Lot prices are the only costs after that plus maintenance. I may have to find a job even, or a person who might wish to room there with me to share expenses.

Success

I wanted to delete the posts that I had written regarding the lottery. I have a very unique system which I finally have brought up to date for the Arizona Pick now.  Whether I will ever actually go for the win which means spending oodles of dollars is more than I can say right now.  My first imperative is to decide where I am going from here.

I have been looking at housing in Las Vegas, Nevada. I may drive up there next week to determine if I really should move to Vegas to spend the remaining days left to me.  Costs are going up so fast in this area that I can move across the county to keep expenses down, but at this point I am at the point where I could just up and move to another state.

I had been thinking of storing my belongings in the storage building which is directly across the street to spend some time in Europe for the summer and fall.  Then return to find a permanent place, but that is an expense that I do not know if I can afford or not either.  I  am going to rid myself of extraneous belongings that I do not actively use to reduce the amount of storage space needed for all my stuff as well as to keep moving costs down.  I do not know yet exactly how I will do that.

But my goal is to rid myself of much by the end of March.  Fortunately, I have a dear friend in Diane who has given me some sound advice.  Replacement costs are always a problem to consider.  But I have learned how to buy things at reduced costs.

I woke up from a bad dream this morning in which people were having to dig their own graves. I was with a group who were found guilty of placing the wrong statements on the internet so that they were being taken out to be eliminated.  It woke me up and has stayed with me even to the point of writing it  out.  I am realizing how dangerous many places in the world are regarding freedom of speech and press, and how easily it is to get trapped in some situation from which one cannot extricate oneself. In this case, we had a plan on how to escape the grave that was made for them.

So, on that note I will close. Probably something will come up in the news that will shed some light on that.  I just remembered what it is that this dream could mean. I am referring to a post I read from Vanessa this morning.  That may be what it is about.  Just dawned on me as I had not thought much about it until I reread this.

Vanessa sent that dumb questionnaire about when you may die, and she got a tombstone with her name on it for Oct. 23, 2015.  I did not find it funny or amusing but now I see the link between the dream and the post after all.
